TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE SHIPMENTS NEED CAREFUL PROTECTION

TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE SHIPMENTS NEED CAREFUL PROTECTION

la COUVERTURE

la COUVERTURE, the hybrid thermal solution, halfway between a standard thermal cover and a thermal dolly, that keeps ULDs at the right temperature range all the way to the apron area.

PROTECTION FOR TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE SHIPMENTS

Temperature-sensitive shipments need to be protected from temperature variations to avoid critical damage to the product during the handling phase on the airfield.

la COUVERTURE is designed specifically to protect temperature-sensitive shipments (+15 to +25°C) from temperature variations in extreme climate conditions – hot or cold – from the airport cargo warehouse all the way to the apron area.

WORLDWIDE

Sending equipment for repair to the other side of the world is time-consuming, expensive and not eco-friendly.

la COUVERTURE has a worldwide network of repair stations to assist users with product repairs.

Geo-tracking

When a product is left behind somewhere on the airfield, locating it and returning it to the warehouse is a challenging process.

The la COUVERTURE app gives you its exact location in the last 15 minutes, thanks to the innovative IoT Tracker installed inside (battery lifetime of 3 years, no additional data transmission fees).

5-hour protection

Procedures to speed up handling of time- & temperature-sensitive freight mean the cargo stays in direct sunlight for anything from 30 minutes to up to 120 minutes or longer. This is a risk not only for solar radiation but also for extreme cold, wind, snow and rainfall. In the event of offloads (the worst-case scenario), another 120 min may be needed.

la COUVERTURE protects products from temperature variations for 5 hours*.

Sustainable

Active tarmac transport solutions (refrigerated trucks or thermal dollies) can be one solution used to protect sensitive shipments, but these have high extra costs and are powered with gasoline or rechargeable batteries, resulting in CO2 emissions.

la COUVERTURE is a passive thermal protection solution that limits CO2 emissions. Parts of the product are made with recycled material & recycled fleece, and the minimum 3-year shelf life makes la Couverture eco-friendly.

Easy to use & robust

Standard thermal covers are very light and designed to be placed under the ULD net. Multiple uses of these covers by airport handling can result in damage to the covers, which then need to be changed after a few months.

la COUVERTURE comes in lower deck PMC size: the Velcro sewn on the top of la COUVERTURE makes the height of the product adjustable. The different materials used make it robust and washable.

COMPOSITION

la COUVERTURE is composed of 2 parts: the top and the side. Both are joined by several Velcro strips all around the ULD

TEST

We tested la COUVERTURE by subjecting it to a realistic summer scenario with direct sunlight. To make the test even more extreme, we put the product (thermal mass) at +20° C reducing the range from +20°C to +25°C. We have achieved thermal protection of up to 5 hours.
